In 1897 Lewis J. Stage was admitted to the New York State Bar Association. Soon thereafter, he became partners with the Hon. H.N. Kane and the law firm Kane & Stage was formed. In 1917, his son, Lawrence Stage, was admitted to the New York State Bar Association and in 1923 the law firm of Kane & Stage admitted Lawrence Stage. After Judge Kane's death in 1924, Lewis J. and Lawrence Stage formed the law firm of Stage & Stage. In 1933, after the death of Lewis J. Stage, Lawrence Stage and John Charles Straton formed the law firm of Stage & Straton.
In 1951, Douglas Stage was admitted to the New York State Bar Association and became an Associate with Stage & Straton. In 1954, Stage & Stage was formed with Douglas and Lawrence Stage and in 1955, Richard B. Stage, one of Lawrence's sons, was admitted to the Bar. In 1958, Richard joined his brother and father and continued the firm as Stage & Stage. Douglas' daughter, Rebecca E. Stage, was admitted to the Bar in 1976 and became affiliated with the firm of Stage & Stage. His son, Douglas R. Stage, was admitted to the Bar in 1981 and became a partner with his father, Douglas Stage, and his grandfather, Lawrence Stage, in 1982. In 1985, Douglas Stage passed on and in 1986 Lawrence Stage passed on.
In 1987, a new law firm of Stage & Nathans was created when William Nathans and Douglas R. Stage became partners. At that time, Catherine M. Bartlett, the former County Attorney, was an Associate in the law firm of Stage & Stage and continued to be an Associate with the law firm of Stage & Nathans.
In June of 2000, John E. Ziobro joined the firm to create Stage, Nathans & Ziobro, LLP. The firm expanded from the traditional practice of real estate and estate law to include matrimonial and family law, criminal and civil litigation areas. Furthermore, upon John Ziobro's joining the firm, Douglas R. Stage expanded his practice in the Elder Law area, offering more services to the community.
At the present time, the law firm consists of three partners, Douglas R. Stage, William Nathans and John E. Ziobro, a staff of three paralegals, a secretary, and a receptionist. Located at 23 West Street in Warwick, New york, the firm offers a variety of legal services that are delivered in a competent and friendly manner. |
